AGREEMENT AND ARTICLES OF INCORPORATION
of the
RITZVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY AND IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION.
THIS CERTIFIES, That at a meeting called by J.D. Bassett, O.R. Holcomb and F.H. Whitham, on September 12, 1902, to be held at the Court House in Ritzville, Washington, at 7:30 p.m., Saturday September 20, 1902, which notice was signed by the above-named persons and directe(d) and sent by mail to the addresses of the following named parties, to-wit: O.H. Greene, N.H. Greene, C.O. Greene, D.L. VanAmburgh, F.R. Burroughs, John M. Adams, W.W. King, W.H. Tuggle, O.R. Haight, W.R. Peters, H.A. Bier, E.D. Gilson, and which notices were deposited in the post office at Ritzville, Wash., with postage fully prepaid, addressed to the usual place of residence and address of each of said parties, as appears by the affidavit of O.R. Holcomb in the records of said association, and at said meeting, F.H. Whitham was duly elected temporary chairman, and O.R. Holcomb temporary secretary, and it was agreed by the persons there present to enter into a corporation, under the laws of the State of Washington, Session Laws of 1895, Sections 1 to 7, pages 400-402, inclusive, for the purposes of promoting, procuring, maintaining and governing a public library for the Town of Ritzville, Washington, and a gymnasium, and for other benevolent purposes, and said meeting was adjourned to meet Saturday, September, 27, 1902, at same place, and there and then, on Saturday, September, 27, 1902, adjourned to meet Tuesday, October 6, 1902, at the First Congregational Church, in Ritzville, Wash., at which time and place is (it) was resolved to enter into a corporation as above described, and adopted the following
ARTICLES OF INCORPORATION:
Article I. The name of this incorporation shall be "RITZVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY AND IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION."
Article II. The objects and purposes of this association shall be:
(1) To foster the moral and intellectual development of our citizens, especially the young.
(2) To co-operate with and aid public authorities, especially the town of Ritzville, in the maintenance of public order and the encouragement and maintenance of public improvements and benefactions.
