HAIL, PROGRESS! The founding of a new and Greater Kettle Falls at this site was made necessary when the finger of progress turned a new page in history ... a page dealing with that epochal event. . .. completion of that wonder of the modern age, the Grand Coulee dam. Soon, where the mighty Columbia has surged for ages, fleets of streamlined lake vessels will be traversing a huge, placid lake, the world's largest man-made body of water. Gone will be the scenic kettles and falls. No more will the eye of man see instinct-driven salmon hurl themselves in through the spray and up over the foaming falls. The passing of the land that our forefathers knew will be replaced with a lake carrying on its bosom snug cargoes of good fortune for this and succeeding generations. In presenting this celebration the Chamber of Commerce and American Legion Post No. 146 express appreciation for the splendid support given by scores of firms and individuals throughout Stevens County. — BOARD OF DIRECTORS — General Chairman, Jasper D.
