Until I90S>, graduation was held for those students that had completed the tenth grade or sophomore year. In 1906, the eleventh grade or junior year was added. In 1907, the first graduation exercises for students completing four years of high school were held, but the high school was not accredited.
The graduates of the 1997 class were Hazel Henkle (Mrs. Hazel H. Stains, 2311 S. E. 56th Avenue, Portland 6, Oregon), and Lela Whitman. In; 1908, the graduates were Edith Tyler, Ruby'Best and Noble Eest, still not an accredited ^school. In 1909, the high school became accredited and the graduates were as follows: Edna Brigham, Maude Jamison, Beatrice Courter., Lillian Warner, Willis Watson, and Herman Eng&ll&nd.
From the Tekoa Advertiser of June lU, 1907, as follows:
"To erect a High SchooJ fcailding, the boar*! of education of Tekoa has advertised" for bids for the contract of erecting a two-story brick school building. The buiJding to be used for a high school. An election fcr a site for the same was held Tuesday the Uth, but as none of the proposed sites received a majority, another election will be necessary. The three sites

"proposed were the Huffman site, the "Lombard site and the south side 3ite. The Huffman site receiving the fewest votes, the election will now turn to the other twcV'
This was part of the planning for the two-story brick high school that stood on the site of the present new high school building. The school was completed in time for the second semester of 1907.. and^ 1-908. In 1911, a contract was let for a new heating plant.
About 1918, a gymnasium, assembly, library, and offices were,added to the high school building.
Construction of the present new high school building was started August 1, I960, and continued throughout the entire school year. \ The last two days of the 1960-61 school year were spent in moving out of the old Tekoa High School building, and on June 3, 1961, they started tearing down the old building.
On display will be the pictures of the first and last graduating classes in the old Tekoa High School building.
